A pastel room with a bunk, a slide, a study zone and grow-with-me storage - designed to grow with a 10-year-old.
The family wanted a bedroom that felt joyful without being loud - somewhere their daughter could sleep, study and play, and still feel right in a few years' time. Colour was welcome, but they didn't want a theme she'd outgrow by the next birthday.
Sleep, study, storage and room to play all had to live in one compact space - with the fun of a slide the daughter had asked for, minus the clutter and hard edges that usually come with it. Every square foot had to earn a second job.
We stacked sleep over storage in a custom bunk, ran the study desk along the light, and let a gentle slide double as the reason to climb up. A calm pastel base carries a few confident coral moments - so the room reads playful, not busy, and the joy comes from how it works.
Sleeping lofted up top freed the floor below for storage and a reading nook, doubling the room without extending a wall.
The slide she asked for became the playful way down - soft-edged, secured, and no wider than the room could spare.
The study zone runs along the window so homework happens in natural light, with a pinboard for the things that change every term.
A pastel base does the calming; coral shows up on the handles, the slide and a few soft edges - easy to restyle as she grows.
The palette keeps most surfaces quiet so the coral can be bold in just a few places - a room that photographs cheerful and lives calm.
Sleep sits lofted in one corner with storage stacked below it; the study runs along the window wall for daylight; and the freed floor becomes an open play-and-read zone that the slide connects back to the bunk. Nothing is boxed off - the whole room reads as a single, easy-to-move-through world.

"She calls it the best room in the house - and the honest truth is it's the tidiest, because everything finally has a place. The slide was the wish; the storage is the magic."
